Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks an Engineer or Principal Engineer - Subsystems Electrical to join our team in Palmdale, CA; San Diego, CA or Oklahoma City, OK.

You will develop electrical wiring designs for aircraft subsystems, support requirements for power generation and distribution, and lead system-level testing and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in STEM with 2+ years aerospace design experience.
  • Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance and SAP clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical wiring designs for a functional system including conductors and components.
  • Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems.
  • Plan, execute, and troubleshoot system-level tests and verifications.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers as technical point of contact for hardware development.

Aircraft subsystems include System Architecture, Cable Design, and Electrical Power Generation & Distribution.Responsibilities Include:Develop electrical wiring designs of a functional system including the selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems.Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power related deliverables.Responsible for all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.May participate on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurementSystem level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshootingSystem level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are metPosition may be filled as either a Electrical Engineer (level 2) OR Principal Electrical Engineer (level 3) depending on the qualifications below.Basic Qualifications for Engineer (Level 2):Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and 2 years of experience in Aerospace structural designExperience in electrical design of air vehicle systemsMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearanceBasic Qualifications for Principal Engineer (Level 3):Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an Masters degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 1 years of related experienceExperience in electrical design of air vehicle systemsMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearancePreferred Qualifications:Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraftExperience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures#BluePrimary Level Salary Range: $75,100.00 - $139,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $171,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
