Job summary

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is seeking an Operations Engineer for the Houston Ship Channel to support day-to-day operations, troubleshoot processes, and drive improvements.

You will monitor KPIs and DCS trends, participate in improvement projects, and help implement new terminal processes and equipment upgrades. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years in a chemical plant environment with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or Mechanical).
  • 3+ years in a chemical plant or related environment.
  • 3+ years of production, process, or mechanical troubleshooting and optimization experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with reliability improvement techniques (predictive/Preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, risk-based inspection).
  • Knowledge of DCS/advanced process control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, lead, and participate in improvement initiatives, projects, and process optimization teams to deliver specific, time-bound objectives.
  • Monitor operations daily/weekly; review KPIs, logs, DCS trends, quality results to ensure reliable operations.
  • Intervene to identify and resolve operating issues.
  • Design and implement new Neches River Terminal processes/equipment upgrades.
  • Manage capital project assignments to support terminal improvements.
  • Maintain calculation basis for unit permits and prepare emission calculations.
  • Provide production and process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support.
  • Develop process standards, SOPs, diagrams, training materials, and job aids for site operations.
  • Implement reliability improvement techniques such as predictive and preventive maintenance, RCA, RBI.

Job Description

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is one of the largest publicly traded partnerships and a leading North American provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas, NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals. Our services include: natural gas gathering, treating, processing, transportation and storage; NGL transportation, fractionation, storage and import and export terminals; crude oil gathering, transportation, storage and terminals; petrochemical and refined products transportation, storage and terminals; and a marine transportation business that operates primarily on the United States inland and Intracoastal Waterway systems. The partnership’s assets include approximately 50,000 miles of pipelines; 260 million barrels of storage capacity for NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals; and 14 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity.

Description

The Operations Engineer will support day-to-day operations with responsibilities including troubleshooting, process optimization and improvement, and improving product quality. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize, lead, and participate in improvement initiatives, projects, and process optimization teams to deliver specific, focused, time bound improvement objectives.
  • Monitor operations on a daily/weekly basis, reviewing KPI's, operating logs, Distributed Control System (DCS) trends, quality results, and other sources of data to ensure reliable, consistent, and cost-effective operations.
  • Intervene where appropriate to identify and resolve operating issues.
  • Design and implementation of new Neches River Terminal processes and/or equipment upgrades.
  • Manage capital project assignments as necessary to support Neches River Terminal improvements.
  • Maintain the calculation basis for unit's permits and prepare emission event calculations.
  • Provide production and process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization.
  • Develop process standards, operating procedures, diagrams, training materials, and job aids as required to properly document, teach, and manage site operations.
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain reliability improvement techniques such as predictive and preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and risk based inspection.
  • Track variable costs and look for ways to reduce those costs via process optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with all steps of OSHA 1910.119 / Process Safety Management and DOT regulations.
  • Satisfactorily perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required..
  • A minimum of(3) years of experience in a chemical plant environment, or related industry is required.
  • A minimum of (3) years of experience with production, process, or mechanical troubleshooting and optimization activities is preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required.
  • Working knowledge of reliability improvement techniques such as predictive and preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, risk-based inspections, and total productive maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience with Process Modeling software, such as Hysys, is preferred.
  • Must show strong initiative, be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, and be detailed oriented with the ability to handle fast-paced projects with constantly changing priorities and scope.
  • Must be proficient in balancing multiple priorities and activities and be able to meet deadlines in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Must demonstrate a proven track record of working in a team environment, possess a strong technical/problem solving aptitude and be data driven.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by identifying and enrolling appropriate resources is required.
  • Ability to quickly absorb the key deliverables and not get mired in detail is required.
  • Knowledge of DCS and advanced process control systems is preferred.
