WM is seeking an Engineer Landfill II to join a hybrid field and office environment. You will work with senior engineers, regulators, and operations teams on capital projects, compliance, and landfill operations improvements.
You will participate in permitting, construction oversight, budgeting, and regulatory interactions while growing your skills in environmental and infrastructure engineering within WM's organization.
Step into a role where engineering meets impact. As an Engineer Landfill II, you’ll work at the intersection of design, construction, environmental stewardship, and regulatory strategy. This is a hybrid field/office role for someone who’s curious, driven, and ready to grow fast.
You’ll partner with senior WM engineers, contractors, regulators, and operations teams to shape capital projects, strengthen compliance, and improve how our landfills operate every day. Expect meaningful responsibility, diverse project work, and the chance to influence permitting, construction oversight, budgeting, and public‑facing regulatory interactions.
If you’re looking for a role that blends technical engineering with real‑world problem‑solving — and gives you the runway to build a long‑term career in environmental and infrastructure engineering — this is it.
This position requires an individual with ambition and curiosity as well as engineering technical skills. You will be tasked to apply your education and experience to assignments under the mentorship of experienced technical staff and managers. You will expand your understanding of waste management processes, including landfill operations, regulatory permitting and compliance, construction, and environmental management systems. In addition to the technical engineering aspects, the role is diverse and ever interesting as it requires creativity and active participation in multiple functions of the business such as project planning and budgeting, accounting, contract negotiations, regulatory interaction, construction oversight and operations.
Office: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
