Job summary

JRAD is seeking an Engineer (Journeyman) to support the U.S. Air Force OT&E Center AFOTEC, Detachment 6 – Fighter Test Services, at Nellis AFB, NV.

The role provides multi-disciplinary engineering support across test planning, execution, data analysis and reporting in live flight tests and M&S frameworks. Candidates should hold a bachelor's in engineering and have 3+ years' relevant experience, with an active Secret clearance; experience with AFOTEC or similar OT&E, and proficiency in MATLAB,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical)
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in engineering, systems analysis, T&E, or related fields
  • Experience supporting OT&E activities within AFOTEC or similar organizations
  • Familiarity with fighter aircraft systems (e.g., F-35, F-16, F-15) and air combat operations
  • Experience with data analysis, software tools, or engineering applications
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, data visualization and reporting tools
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Experience developing technical documentation and reports

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to analyze system performance, integration, and operational effectiveness
  • Support development and execution of operational test plans and evaluation criteria

Job description

JRAD is seeking candidates for an upcoming Engineer (Journeyman) position supporting the U.S. Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC), Detachment 6 (DET 6) - Fighter Test Services (FTS). This position is located at Nellis AFB, NV.

The Engineer (Journeyman) provides engineering support across multiple disciplines in support of operational test and evaluation (OT&E) of defense systems under the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) Detachment 6 Fighter Test Services contract.

Applies engineering principles and analytical methods to support evaluation of system performance, integration, and mission effectiveness in operational environments. Contributes to test planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting across live flight testing, distributed test environments, and modeling and simulation (M&S) frameworks.

Works independently on assigned engineering tasks and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical rigor and mission alignment in support of AFOTEC evaluation objectives.

Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Apply engineering principles to support analysis of system performance, integration, and operational effectiveness
  • Support development and execution of operational test plans, including definition of test objectives, scenarios, and evaluation criteria
  • Analyze technical data, including test results, system outputs, and performance metrics, to assess system behavior and identify trends or anomalies
  • Support evaluation of system components and subsystems, including hardware, software, and integrated systems
  • Participate in modeling and simulation (M&S) activities, including data preparation, model execution, and validation against test results
  • Conduct engineering analyses and trade studies to support system evaluation and decision-making
  • Assist in identifying technical risks, issues, and performance limitations, and support development of mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including aerospace engineers, operations research analysts, data analysts, intelligence personnel, and program management staff
  • Support mission planning and execution for test events, including pre-test preparation and post-test analysis
  • Develop technical documentation, including engineering reports, data summaries, and analysis products
  • Ensure accuracy, traceability, and completeness of engineering data and analysis results
  • Comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and security protocols
Required Skills and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering) or a related technical discipline
  • 3 or more years of relevant professional experience in engineering, systems analysis, test and evaluation, or related technical fields
  • Experience supporting operational test and evaluation (OT&E) activities within AFOTEC or similar test organizations
  • Familiarity with fighter aircraft systems (e.g., F-35, F-16, F-15) and air combat operations
  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) or other modeling and simulation environments
  • Experience with data analysis, software tools, or engineering applications
  • Familiarity with the following tools and technologies: engineering analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent); data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB); modeling and simulation environments and tools; data visualization and reporting tools
  • Experience applying engineering principles to technical or operational problems
  • Experience supporting engineering analysis, systems engineering, or test and evaluation (T&E) activities
  • Experience analyzing technical data and evaluating system performance
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Experience supporting development of technical documentation and reports
Security Clearance:
  • Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret/SCI preferred
