Job summary

X-energy is seeking a senior QA professional to lead the reactor program's quality management system, ensuring compliance with NRC/DOE and international standards. You will own project quality plans, drive improvements, and coordinate supplier audits while traveling as needed.

Ideal candidates bring a STEM ABET degree, 10+ years QA experience, and Certified Nuclear Lead Auditor credentials, with strong regulatory knowledge and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an ABET-accredited college/university; non-STEM degrees considered with experience.
  • Typically, ten years of experience in a relevant quality assurance role.
  • Certified nuclear Lead Auditor credentials with evidence of nuclear audits.
  • Knowledge in Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Systems.
  • Knowledge applying QA and nuclear manufacturing program requirements and regulations (e.g., 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1, CSA 299, CSA N286-12, CSA 286.7, ISO 9001).
  • Knowledge across nuclear and manufacturing quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure QMS documents for the reactor program are identified, established, implemented and maintained.
  • Analyze non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
  • Work with engineers to facilitate process improvements.
  • Assist with internal quality inspections.
  • Achieve/maintain auditor credentials as applicable.
  • Assist with supplier evaluations and qualifications through audits, assessments, surveillances, inspections.
  • Conduct quality training and report status to leadership; act as the project’s quality focal point.
  • Travel internationally and domestically for supplier and customer site visits.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in all communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Description

This role is responsible for performing Quality Assurance services in support of X-energy’s reactor development project, including documenting, implementing, and maintaining United States Commercial Nuclear, Department of Energy, Canadian Nuclear and International Quality Management systems. Ensures compliance to applicable NRC, DOE, CNSC and ISO requirements for all project activities. This includes responsibility for relevant administrative and technical quality decisions. Applies detailed knowledge, understanding and experience in the functional discipline and its practical application, industry codes, guidelines, and regulations. Actively support safety culture and Quality Assurance activities associated with X-energy’s reactor development related to supply chain activities, graphite irradiation, and fuel qualification programs.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Ensure processes and documents needed for the reactor program Quality Management System are identified, established, implemented, and maintained as necessary.
  • Analyze non-conformances and implements process improvement and corrective actions.
  • Work with the engineers to facilitate process methodologies and improvements.
  • Assist with conducting internal quality inspections.
  • Obtain/Maintain NQA-1, CSA, ISO, and any other international recognized auditor credential as applicable.
  • Assist with supplier evaluations and qualifications through audits, assessments, surveillances, and inspections.
  • Facilitate, provide, and encourage appropriate company quality training.
  • Report to appropriate leadership regarding the status of the quality programs and, where appropriate, concerns over significant risks and recommendations for improvement.
  • Single point of contact for all aspects of quality for the assigned project.
  • Originator and owner of the project specific project quality plan that includes customer specific quality requirements and any applicable key performance indicators.
  • Play an active role to ensure safety and quality culture is promoted and continually improved.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically for supplier and customer site visits.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) or related field from an ABET accredited college or university. Additionally, non-STEM degrees (i.e., business management, supply chain, project management, quality, technology associates degrees, etc.) will be considered in conjunction with prior work experience and training on a case-by-case scenario.
  • Typically, ten years of experience in a relevant quality assurance role required.
  • Certified nuclear Lead Auditor credentials, with objective evidence leading and supporting nuclear specific audits.
  • Knowledge in Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Systems.
  • Knowledge and experience applying quality assurance and nuclear manufacturing programs requirements and regulations. Examples of quality assurance requirements include 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1, CSA 299, CSA N286-12, CSA 286.7, and ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge and understanding across a broad range of nuclear and manufacturing quality issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Nuclear Construction quality assurance.

Compensation

Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual’s qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:

$135,000- $157,500
