Colorado Department of Transportation in Denver seeks an Engineering-In-Training III, Traffic Construction, to oversee multiple construction projects ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and safety standards. This position is only open to Colorado state residents.
New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

The Traffic and Safety Construction unit is located in Denver. This work unit exist to manage the construction phase of Traffic Engineering projects, review and comment on plans and specs prior to ad, review/approve and certify that the contractor's construction methods, procedures, materials and end products follow the engineering details and specifications outlined in the construction plans, CDOT specifications and international building codes. To ensure safe and efficient development of all transportation infrastructure projects within CDOT Region-1 right of way. Resolve contractor’s disputes and claims to ensure timely project completion within budgetary constraints. Provide support and review of working drawings. Ensures As-Built plans are completed and have been submitted. Provide traffic engineering expertise to construction field personnel; Track and document construction activities as detailed in the CDOT Construction Manual. Participate in the selection of consultants; monitor contract administration; approve contract payments; monitor and review monthly progress reports and approve goods and services.
As the Engineering-In-Training III, Traffic Construction, you will works under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer applying engineering theories, principles, and practices of construction projects while continuing to expand their engineering knowledge. Works on assigned construction projects to assure compliance with specifications and designs, and proper preparation of the contract documents. This position manages assigned engineering construction projects as the Project Engineer. Responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day construction management of multiple projects. Monitor construction productivity, budget and schedule performance. Ensures all changes to specifications, work scope and drawing are implemented and documented. Identify and resolve all technical issues in construction process. Ensure all materials used on the project follow all Project Specifications CDOT Specifications and building codes. Prepare and approve monthly pay estimates for projects, track project expenditures, and forecast future funding needs.
