Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an early‑career structural engineering graduate with a Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering to join the Structural Engineering division at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger in Waltham, MA. The role involves new design, repair, and rehabilitation of structures, on‑site investigations, construction administration, and drawing/specification preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Assist senior staff with on‑site investigations and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Aid in construction administration and prepare drawings/specifications.
  • Evaluate and design repairs for existing buildings.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
  • FE/EIT certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, accountability, and problem‑solving skills.

Compensation
  • Associate Project Consultant: Bachelor's $79,560 – $81,640; Master's $83,200 – $85,280
  • Project Consultant: Bachelor's $82,680 – $101,920; Master's $83,720 – $108,160; Doctorate $90,480 – $108,160

Sign‑on bonus: $5,000. Base salary is part of a comprehensive package including bonus, PTO, and health benefits.
