Responsibilities

• Support licensed engineers in design and analysis of civil engineering projects (site development, bridges, roadways, drainage).
• Prepare drawings and calculations and assist with design reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
• Review plans for accuracy and regulatory compliance under supervision.

Role Description

The Engineer in Training (EIT) is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area. This role supports licensed engineers in the design and analysis of civil engineering projects, such as site development, bridges, roadway improvements, and drainage systems. Day-to-day responsibilities may include preparing drawings and calculations, assisting with design reports, performing basic engineering analyses, and helping to coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies. The EIT will also help with data collection, reviewing plans for accuracy and compliance, and preparing technical documentation under supervision. This position offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and a structured path toward professional licensure.

Qualifications

• Foundational civil engineering knowledge, including understanding of design principles, infrastructure systems, and standard engineering practices. Knowledge of TxDOT RDM, AASHTO manuals.
• Proficiency with Bentley Software tools such as MicroStation, Open Roads, Bluebeam design software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to support collaboration with team members, clients, and regulatory entities.
• Ability to work on-site, manage multiple tasks, follow guidance from senior engineers, and meet project deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification in Texas, or eligibility and commitment to obtain EIT registration within a defined timeframe.
• Interest in Texas civil infrastructure and local standards; prior internship or co-op experience in civil engineering consulting is a plus.
