Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from ABET-accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of engineering-related work experience required.
  • Eight (8) years of engineering-related work experience required for alternate path.
  • Approved engineer degrees include Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Structural.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.

  • Develop long-range system and asset plans to maintain reliable power generation.
  • Evaluate engineering proposals, studies, and business cases for informed decisions.

Summary

As a Long-Term Plant Reliability Engineer III/Senior, you will help ensure the long-term reliability and performance of critical power generation assets. By applying engineering expertise, analytical thinking, and strategic planning, you'll support decisions that keep energy systems operating safely and efficiently. Your work directly contributes to APS's commitment to delivering reliable power to the communities we serve while helping prepare for future energy needs.

What Your Day Would Be Like

  • Analyze plant performance, equipment reliability, and engineering data to identify opportunities for long-term improvement.
  • Develop and support long-range system and asset plans that help maintain reliable power generation.
  • Evaluate engineering proposals, technical studies, and business cases to support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operations teams, and leaders to solve complex technical challenges and improve asset performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and share expertise with team members on engineering methods, analysis, and best practices.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders to support reliability and operational goals.
  • May be subject to shift work.

  • A four-year Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) AND five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
  • Approved Engineer degrees: Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Structural. (A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)
  • A four-year Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) AND eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Problem analysis/resolution techniques.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Experience in nuclear industry for jobs at Palo Verde.
  • Professional Engineer licensure.

Nuclear Requirements

  • Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
