Stanley Black & Decker is hiring a Packaging Engineer for a hybrid Towson, MD role. You’ll work with the packaging team to define requirements, optimize structures, and coordinate labeling and approvals. Prototyping for retailer reviews and sustainable packaging design are key parts of the job.

The candidate will have 3–5 years in packaging roles, a packaging engineering degree, and hands-on experience with packaging materials and related processes. Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in Packaging Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience as a packaging engineer, packaging designer or structural engineer in consumer goods.
• Passion for packaging design and knowledge of packaging materials.
• Experience with printing, die-cutting, thermoforming, injection and blow molding.

Responsibilities

• Work with global packaging team and suppliers to develop packaging requirements and priorities.
• Create/optimize packaging structure based on regionally available materials and test qualifications.
• Coordinate specifications, labeling, and approvals of all packaging structures.
• Troubleshoot problems with current product packaging.
• Create prototypes for customer line reviews and sales pitches with major retailers.
• Design and execute sustainable packaging solutions with supportive resources.

The Job

As a Packaging Engineer, you’ll be part of our Hand Tools & Storage Packaging team located in Towson, CT. You’ll get to:

• Work with global packaging team and suppliers to develop packaging requirements, material specifications, and project priorities
• Create / optimize packaging structure to maximize quality/cost based on regionally available materials and qualify through testing
• Coordinate specifications, labeling, and approvals of all packaging structures
• Ability to troubleshoot problems with current product packaging
• Create prototypes for customer line reviews and sales pitches with major retailers
• Design, innovate, and execute sustainable packaging solutions working closely with supportive resources

• BS or BA in Packaging Engineering
• Required Must have 3-5 years of experience as a packaging engineer, packaging designer or structural engineer working in the consumer goods industry.
• Must have a passion for packaging design
• Working knowledge of packaging related manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, printing, die-cutting, thermoforming, injection and blow molding
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials (corrugated, paperboard, plastic), and characteristics for packaging structural design
• Experience with Kongsberg Table SAP experience a plus
• Good sketching and visualizing skills
• Proficient in ArtiosCAD, TOPS/Cape, Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks, Catia, and 3D Printing.
• SAP and Windchill experience a plus.

Salary

The Salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $115,900.00 This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements.
