Fairfax County Government is seeking an Engineer III (Project Manager) to lead wastewater capital improvement projects within the WDCD. You will oversee design and construction management from concept to close-out, coordinating with consultants, contractors, and county stakeholders.
The role requires strong project management, communication skills, and knowledge of wastewater collection systems and regulations. A hybrid work arrangement is available, with potential after the introductory period.

The Wastewater Design and Construction Division (WDCD) is seeking engineers with project management experience in design and/or construction administration to manage a variety of wastewater capital improvement projects in the Collection Branch. WDCD provides planning, design, and construction management for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects for Fairfax County's wastewater collection system including pump stations, gravity sewers and force mains.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor\'s degree in the appropriate engineering or architectural field; plus, three years of progressively responsible professional experience in the appropriate engineering or architectural field.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver\'s license
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to hear and properly respond to typical construction alarms and verbal warnings on active construction sites. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds with assistance. Ability to produce organized and legible handwritten, typed/computer generated documents including the use of graphics. Able to safely climb construction ladders. Must be able to physically negotiate rough terrain and typical construction sites to perform field inspections at project construction sites or potential sites for future facilities. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
