Job summary

Verdantas in Ohio seeks a Water & Wastewater Staff Engineer II to join our Akron, OH or Mentor, OH office. You’ll support water and wastewater projects, work with Project Managers, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions for communities.

The role requires a Civil or Environmental Engineering degree (ABET-accredited), 2+ years of related experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and common software; EIT/PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• 2+ years in water & wastewater or related civil projects.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
• Familiar with hydraulic modeling and municipal projects.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with engineering design for water and wastewater facilities.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and feasibility studies.
• Develop hydraulic models and perform analyses.
• Create design drawings, plans, sections, and profiles.
• Participate in field investigations and permitting applications.
• Provide construction administration and coordinate with officials and contractors.
• Mentor junior staff as needed.

Verdantas is seeking a talented Water & Wastewater Staff Engineer II to join our team in either our Akron, OH or Mentor, OH office. We’re looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented engineer to support innovative water and wastewater projects in Ohio. In this role, you’ll collaborate with experienced Project Managers to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions that improve essential infrastructure for communities. From preparing reports and hydraulic models to developing design plans and participating in field investigations, you’ll play a key part in shaping sustainable water systems while advancing your technical expertise.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist Project Managers with engineering design for water and wastewater facilities requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks

• Perform technical engineering work associated with water and wastewater engineering including:

• Prepare engineering reports and feasibility studies

• Prepare engineering‑related calculations and visual aids

• Develop hydraulic models and perform engineering analysis

• Participate in field investigations

• Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections

• Complete various permitting applications

• Attend meetings with municipal officials, engineers, and contractors

• Provide construction administration of water and wastewater projects

• Some mentoring and delegation of work tasks to junior staff

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET‑accredited institution in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in water/wastewater or other related field

• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

• 2+ years of experience in water & wastewater or related civil engineering projects including design, analyses, and studies

• Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required

• Familiarity with computer models for hydraulic system analysis

• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Salary Range:

The minimum salary for this position is $85,000 (negotiable based on experience and qualifications).
