Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking a motivated Engineer II to join the Hydraulic Systems Team. You will address technical inquiries, support RMAs and FARs, and collaborate with customers and suppliers to improve component reliability and manufacturability.

You will also contribute to hydraulic system design for new aircraft programs and ensure adherence to quality standards. As the technical focal point, you will work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues arising in production and field

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field).
  • 2-3 years of experience in engineering roles, preferably in aerospace or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills using 8D, Apollo, Minitab, 5-Why, etc.
  • Working knowledge of engineering domain principles, ability to analyze complex technical issues, and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with engineering design and analysis tools; ability to use standard software packages.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main technical contact for customers, providing timely responses to all technical inquiries and supporting RMA/FAR processes.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to investigate and resolve product issues identified during production or in-field operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure timely completion of engineering projects to meet reliability and cost objectives.
  • Interpret and validate test results, ensuring conformance to procedures and product safety standards.
  • Provide technical documentation and reviews with product engineering using established processes.

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer II to join our Hydraulic Systems Team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability and performance of our products in the field and during aircraft production. You will collaborate closely with customers and suppliers to identify, address, and resolve issues and defects that arise in our components, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. In addition, you will be involved in hydraulic system design and analysis for new aircraft programs.

As the technical customer focal point, you will be responsible for handling all technical inquiries and providing expert support related to Returned Material Authorizations (RMAs) and Failure Analysis Reports (FARs). Your technical expertise will be essential in guiding customers through product improvements aimed at enhancing component reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as the main technical contact for customers, providing timely responses to all technical inquiries. Supporting the RMA and FAR processes, ensuring thorough analysis and resolution of issues. Analyze customer feedback and performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement in product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains frequent formal and informal interface with customers and suppliers to investigate and resolve product issues and defects identified during aircraft production or in-field operations. Gains customer confidence in overall support of customer programs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and efficient completion of engineering projects to achieve company, customer, and product reliability and cost objectives.
  • Interprets and validates test results for accuracy and precision. Ensures conformance to product qualification procedures and parameters to achieve customer and product reliability and safety standards.
  • Provides technical information for review with product engineering teams using established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods (e.g. structured design process; customer design reviews). Writes supporting documentation for procedures and technical reports.
  • Ensures consistent engineering standards, processes, and documentation methods are used in project deliverables, by applying engineering principles and technical judgment.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or participating in professional associations.
  • May execute the duties associated with Export Compliance, including division- or site-wide Export Compliance Program.
  • Investigates and resolves compliance problems and responds to questions from internal or customer sources and government regulatory agencies. May draft or prepare responses on behalf of Group/Division positions.
  • Maintains and coordinates contacts with domestic and foreign civilian and military representatives, as well as customers and government agency officials. Analyzes problem/opportunity areas, structures data-gathering and evaluation of internal processes, and coordinates responses.
  • May research, develop, and manage activities related to international business development activities (e.g. contract terms for use with non-U.S. customers and suppliers). Supports low-cost strategies and opportunities associated with international supplier and offset strategies and assisting with negotiations. Develops recommendations for general and specific courses of action.
  • Coordinates training and business meetings to facilitate the exchange of information on contract review. Develops and implements programs to increase cross-functional knowledge and awareness of contracting requirements and policies as needed.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including customers, other suppliers, design, manufacturing and quality assurance, to design and integrate hydraulic system components on customer’s aircraft.
  • Complete hydraulic systems analysis (line sizing, reservoir sizing, pressure drop analysis, transient pressure analysis, or pump suction line analysis).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field).
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2-3 years of experience in engineering roles, preferably in aerospace or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills utilizing tools such as 8D, Apollo, Minitab, 5-Why, etc.
  • Has working knowledge of engineering domain principles and techniques, product functionality, industry practices, regulations, and policies. General knowledge of other related engineering and technical areas and the ability to analyze complex technical issues Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages. May require capability using specialized software applications or languages.
  • Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied. Works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams, suppliers and customers.
