Job description

Software Test Engineer – Magna Electronics

The Software Test Engineer is responsible for designing component, integration, and qualification level test specifications, reviewing test execution, and preparing test reports for all assigned projects based on detailed design, architecture, and SRS.

Responsibilities
  • Develop test plan and test cases for bench tests.
  • Review and analyze product requirements to design and develop testing artifacts and provide input to product development teams on missing or deficient requirements.
  • Execute bench level testing and record results using various test systems as the product requires.
  • Perform data analysis on test results using various tools.
  • Enter defects into the defect tracking tool and support cross‑functional teams with defect analysis and debug activities.
  • Develop and release all relevant verification engineering deliverables in compliance with Global Engineering Process (GEP) and customer expectations.
  • Perform detailed work assignments provided by a mentor or team member, applying established engineering techniques and when required working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives; ensure that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Follow safe work procedures; use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); use workplace tools and equipment as instructed; report workplace hazards, injuries and illness promptly.
  • Comply with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS).
Technical Requirements
  • ADAS product/test experience desired; automotive electronics expertise.
  • Knowledge of Embedded C and C++.
  • Experience with cantata, VectorCAST, or vTestStudio.
  • Strong knowledge of CAPL, Python, VB, XML/ARXML preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience understanding detailed design, architecture, and SRS reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of generating software test cases from detailed design, architecture, and SRS.
  • Automotive domain knowledge: AUTOSAR, ASPICE, functional safety, MISRA.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR software structure such as BSW, Application, RTE.
  • Knowledge of CAN, UDS diagnostics, bootloader, cyber‑security and Ethernet protocols.
  • Knowledge of compilers (GCC, Tasking), debuggers (I System, Lauterbach), build process.
  • Knowledge of real‑time operating systems concepts.
  • Software development lifecycle knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Electronics preferred.
  • 0‑10 years of relevant experience in serial development or comparable automotive industry; electronic industry experience preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel).
  • Basic knowledge of SAP, PLM/ALM tools (e.g., PTC Tool Suite).
