Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering studies, calculations, and settings development for substation protective relays
  • Apply new protective relaying for planned projects
  • Integrate new designs into existing legacy designs where required
  • Support and troubleshoot implementation and commissioning of designed relays/protective systems for field technicians
  • Support stakeholder teams including Transmission Planning, Account Management, Tech Support, Operations, Asset Management, and Compliance
  • Provide protective relay engineering expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve increasingly complex issues
  • Plan and execute work, including scope, schedule, and estimates, while adapting to changing priorities
  • Conduct engineering and related studies
  • Create and update technical schematics and configuration files according to established standards, guidelines, and philosophies
  • Prepare technical documentation including reports, calculations, and sketches
  • Maintain and grow technical and professional skills
  • Coordinate with teammates and stakeholder teams, communicate clearly, and maintain accurate records
  • Support company goals and represent the company professionally
Requirements
  • Engineer II: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or a Master's degree in Engineering in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree, or PE
  • Engineer II: Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience
  • Engineer III: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or a Master's degree in Engineering in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree
  • Engineer III: Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Utility industry experience desired
  • FE exam passed desired
  • Familiarity with protection tools such as Aspen Relay Database/OneLiner, CymTCC, SEL-5010/5030, and AcSELerator desired
  • Knowledge or experience with NERC PRC standards desired
  • Knowledge or experience with NERC CIP standards desired
  • Knowledge of electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based relays desired
  • Knowledge of relay protection schemes and logic desired
  • Knowledge of project management/controls principles desired
