SEPTA is seeking an Engineer II (Ops Supp) for Rail Facilities, offering a starting salary of $78,702 plus an additional $5,000 for the Pennsylvania PE/RA license. The role provides technical support, quality assurance, and design review across multiple engineering disciplines to advance SEPTA's mission and goals. The position requires a B.S.

in engineering and at least one year of relevant experience, with strong written and verbal communication. US work authorization is required.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with senior engineers on project definitions.
  • Apply basic engineering and quality assurance principles with good judgment.
  • Produce memoranda, technical reports, specifications, audits, etc.
  • Assist in engineering design and analysis in disciplines such as CE, ME, EE, Structural, Track, and C&S.
  • Assist investigations and field surveys.
  • Review drawings for accuracy and completeness and coordinate with other groups.
  • Assist in planning layouts/sketches for tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Overall Description

Utilizing knowledge gained from previous year of engineering experience, this position is responsible for undertaking engineering/quality assurance assignments that are considered to be of "basic complexity" in size and scope. The role provides technical support and direction for engineering/quality assurance activities including design review and implementation, establishing inspection plans, program/project development and consulting, statistical methods, audits, and continuous improvement approaches to ensure activities are consistent with SEPTA mission values and goals.

Specific Responsibilities

I. General (Applicable to all)

  • Consults with senior level engineer/supervision-quality assurance in project definition.
  • Exercises good judgment in application of basic engineering and quality assurance principles.
  • Generates written memoranda, technical reports, specifications, audits, etc. in a professional manner.

IV. Facilities, Engineering and Construction Disciplines

  • Assist in engineering (architectural) design and analysis in assigned field (i.e., CE, ME, EE, Structural, Track, and C&S).
  • Assist in investigations/field surveys.
  • Be aware of and practice standards as applicable to assigned field.
  • Review drawings for accuracy and completeness coordinating with other specialty groups within the department where necessary/advisable.
  • Assist in preliminary planning layouts/sketches where dictated by assigned task/project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • B.S. degree in engineering (or Bachelor’s in Architecture for an architectural position) and one (1) year of satisfactory progressive relevant work performance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
