Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking an Engineer II, Electrical Hardware for a hybrid role based in Towson, MD. You will design and validate wireless connectivity hardware for power tools, collaborating across functions from concept to production.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical/Electronics Eng, 2+ years in electronics design, hands-on test experience with oscilloscopes and VNAs, and strong collaboration and communication skills. Some international travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering.
  • 2+ years of electronics design experience in a relevant industry.
  • Familiarity with analog hardware design and troubleshooting, DFMEA, tolerance stack-up, and failure analysis.
  • Digital design experience including MCU selection, communication protocols, and power budgeting.
  • Board-level bring-up and troubleshooting with test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, VNAs).
  • Schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer a plus; LTSpice a plus.
  • Willingness to travel globally.

The Job:
  • Implement wireless connectivity hardware for professional power tool products that satisfy end‑user needs in the Global Tools and Storage business unit.
  • Learn product development milestones in a world‑class product management system from concept through design, mass manufacturing, and full product lifecycle support.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to design new products and platforms, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, schematics, and reports.
  • Build and test prototypes alongside technicians to validate designs.
  • Identify and communicate major technical and schedule issues to team leaders in a clear, concise, and timely manner while driving appropriate actions.
The Person:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering, at minimum.
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics design within a relevant industry.
  • Familiarity with analog hardware design and troubleshooting, DFMEA, tolerance stack‑up, and hands‑on failure analysis.
  • Digital design experience, including microcontroller selection, digital communication protocols, and power budget calculations.
  • Board‑level bring‑up and troubleshooting hands‑on experience using oscilloscopes, voltage and current probes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and similar equipment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to self‑prioritize tasks.
  • Schematic capture and PCB design experience using Altium Designer is a plus.
  • Circuit simulation experience with LTSpice or similar tools is a plus.
  • The ability to travel globally as needed.
