Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking an Engineer II - Electric Commodities and Innovation to support planning, design, operation, and analysis of facilities. You will work with senior engineers to develop designs, cost estimates, schedules, and project documentation, applying established engineering practices.

This safety-sensitive role requires a BS degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or related field, plus 3+ years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Provides professional engineering service and support in the planning, construction, operation, maintenance, and analysis of PSE facilities and assets. Participates in engineering projects and assignments to support cost, schedule, and operational objectives. Applies established engineering principles, practices, and standards to resolve problems of moderate complexity. Assists with the preparation and review of designs, studies, technical analyses, and project documentation. Works collaboratively with senior engineers and other stakeholders while continuing to develop technical expertise and business knowledge. Supports emergency response operations when needed. Job Responsibilities
  • Applies established engineering guidelines, standards, and procedures to solve routine to moderately complex problems.
  • Prepares engineering designs, studies, calculations, and analyses with appropriate review.
  • Assists in reviewing technical documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Develops project cost estimates and evaluates alternatives under general supervision.
  • Supports project planning, scope development, scheduling, and budget tracking.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and operational requirements.
  • Identifies issues and recommends improvements or corrective actions.
  • Documents engineering work and shares knowledge with team members.
  • Develops solutions that align with PSE's business and operational needs.
  • Collaborates with engineers, field personnel, contractors, and consultants.
  • Supports emergency response work as requested, including system restoration efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Adapted from the Engineer III responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering field. A PE license may qualify in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in planning, design, specification preparation, technical field work, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after three (3) or more years practice as a degreed engineer). Years of acquired experience is provided as a guide and alone does not constitute readiness for job level as individual’s skill acquisition rates can vary significantly.
  • Organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in the utility industry.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and equipment utilized in utility systems.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure.
  • Knowledge of engineering economics and utility business practices.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects and cross-functional teams. Adapted from the Engineer III desired qualifications.

The pay range for this position is$82,000.00-$136,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
