Job summary

Qualifications

• BS in engineering from an ABET accredited program (mechanical or electrical focus preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years mechanical engineering experience and potential leadership of cross-functional teams.
• Working knowledge of CAD modeling; Creo/Windchill experience preferred.
• Hands-on fabrication and prototyping skills.
• Experience with SAP; ability to manage product data.
• International and domestic travel as needed (approx. 15%).

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess technical feasibility of product redesigns and manage cost-reduction activities.
• Apply engineering analysis to design enhancements that improve production efficiency and cost-effectiveness worldwide.
• Review product returns and determine root causes of faucet issues; may travel to customer locations for troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with customer service and quality groups to address product failures and lead investigations.
• Create and validate short- and long-term solutions for product performance issues.
• Develop and report on issues and trends related to product failures and improvement opportunities.
• Develop ideas for new product features and innovations.

As a Current Product Development Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in advancing the performance, value, and manufacturability of our faucet product portfolio. You’ll blend engineering excellence with practical problem-solving as you uncover cost-reduction opportunities, drive efficiency across global plants, and help shape the next evolution of Kohler products. You will work with minimal guidance, demonstrating initiative and independent judgment as you proactively identify areas for improvement and execute engineering solutions that deliver measurable results.

What You’ll Do

• Create and maintain detailedproduct specifications that reflect manufacturing requirements, regulatorystandards, and marketing needs.
• Generate and evaluate multipletechnical solutions using Design for Six Sigma, FEA, and other analyticalmethods—while recognizing when quick, practical solutions are the bestpath forward.
• Own all aspects of product designaccuracy, including GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and form/fit/functionevaluations.
• Ensure product compliance andfunctionality through testing and analysis.
• Preserve and elevate Kohler’sdesign and styling standards across components and assemblies.
• Prepare technical drawings anddocumentation that clearly define or update product requirements.
• Manage priorities, action plans,and timelines for multiple projects; influence cross-functional partnerseven without direct authority.
• Support cost modeling efforts andtrack savings across projects.

Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering focus is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical engineering experience. Previous successful leadership of engineering or cross-functional team is desirable.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of CAD modeling, Creo/Windchill experience preferred.
• Hands on fabrication and prototyping skills
• Experience with SAP is a positive, as well as the demonstrated ability to research and manage product data.
• International and domestic travel as needed (approx. 15%)

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
