Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas seeks a Civil/Structural Engineer to support civil/structural design and analysis for steel structures and foundations. You will work with our engineering team to deliver safe, compliant, and innovative solutions for energy projects.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering (Structural), 2+ years of experience, and familiarity with structural codes. EIT is preferred; travel up to 10% is expected. Strong MS Office and CAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a related engineering field; EIT preferred.
• Familiarity with ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318 is desired.
• Experience with Earthquake Engineering concepts and tools such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, and AutoCAD is desired.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, journals, procedures, or regulations; ability to write reports and present information.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply fractions, percentages, and proportions.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and structural analysis for steel structures and concrete foundations.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, and reports under senior engineers guidance.
• Collect and interpret design requirements from customers, suppliers, and parent company.
• Prepare technical requirements for project proposals and bids.
• Review customer specs and prepare clarifications and deviations.
• Prepare budgets, bids, and project documentation.
• Plan and review deliverable schedules and equipment documentation.
• Coordinate with suppliers on budgets and pricing estimates.
• Ensure foundation and interface information meets requirements.
• Interface with internal and external teams to ensure design accuracy.
• Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformances and improve quality.
• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to meet project needs.

Role Overview

Mitsubishi Power Americas is a major power generation equipment and storage solutions provider for the energy industry. Our goal is to empower our customers to affordably and reliably combat climate change and advance human prosperity using our technologies. Our products include advanced class gas turbines, hydrogen gas turbines, lithium ion and flow battery technologies, digital solutions, and renewable energy project development. We are seeking a qualified, experienced candidate to support new project work with a primary focus on elements of civil and structural design. The Civil/ Structural Engineer is responsible for supporting the design and analysis of civil and structural engineering products. This individual will use their knowledge in structural engineering principles and practices to support development of innovative solutions for a wide range of projects, including support structures, concrete foundations, and enclosure design. The Civil /Structural Engineer will work closely with a team of engineers and technical staff to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and structural analysis for steel structures and concrete foundations
• Prepare calculations, drawings, and reports under the guidance of senior engineers
• Collect, review, interpret, and integrate design requirements from customers, suppliers, and the parent company
• Prepare and review engineering technical requirements to support the overall project proposal and bid strategy
• Review customer specifications and prepare technical clarifications and deviations
• Prepare budgets, bids, technical requirements, and commercial requirements
• Plan and review deliverable schedules, including project documentation and equipment
• Work with suppliers to develop budgets and pricing estimates
• Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets requirements
• Interface with internal and external teams to ensure that design interface information for structural commodities is accurate and properly accounted for
• Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformances and improve quality
• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to meet evolving project and organizational needs

Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil Engineering with focus in Structural Engineering is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a related engineering field. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, thermodynamics, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Fluent in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc). Knowledge of databases, project management, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
• Travel 10%
