Job summary

Masimo, a Danaher operating company, is seeking an Engineer II in Irvine, CA to design, develop, and optimize advanced signal processing and physiological measurement algorithms for medical devices. You will work with cross-functional teams across software, hardware, clinical and quality engineering to advance next-generation monitoring solutions.

The role emphasizes data-driven evaluation, experimentation, and collaboration within the R&D Algorithm Engineering department on-site in Irvine.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in algorithm development, signal processing, biomedical engineering, software engineering, or related discipline within the medical device industry.
  • Experience with DSP, statistical analysis, optimization methods, and numerical modeling.
  • Strong programming and software development skills using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and developing data-driven solutions.

  • Analyze physiological and clinical data sets to evaluate algorithm performance, accuracy, robustness, and reliability.
  • Support development activities across the algorithm lifecycle including concept development, feasibility analysis, prototyping, verification, validation, and product integration.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, clinical, and quality engineering teams to support product development initiatives.
  • Participate in clinical data collection, experimental design, and analysis of human subject study data.

The Engineer II, Algorithm supports the design, development, testing, and optimization of advanced signal processing and physiological measurement algorithms used in Masimo’s medical technologies and monitoring platforms. This role contributes to the development of next-generation noninvasive monitoring solutions through data analysis, modeling, experimentation, and cross-functional engineering collaboration. The position reports to the Manager, Algorithm – AI/Machine Learning and is part of the R&D Algorithm Engineering department located in Irvine, CA and will be an on-site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To:
  • Design, develop, implement, test, and optimize signal processing and physiological measurement algorithms for medical device applications.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include:
  • B.S. Degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of related engineering experience in algorithm development, signal processing, biomedical engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline within the medical device industry.
  • Experience with digital signal processing, statistical analysis, optimization methods, and numerical modeling.
  • Strong programming and software development skills using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar technical computing languages.
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and developing data-driven solutions.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Experience developing algorithms for biomedical, physiological, wearable, or medical device applications.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI, or advanced data analytics techniques.
  • Understanding of human physiology and biomedical signal acquisition methods.
  • Understanding of embedded systems and software development principles.
  • Experience working within regulated environments such as FDA, ISO 13485, or IEC 62304.

The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $135,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for up to a 10% annual bonus.
