Terumo Cardiovascular in Ann Arbor, MI, seeks an engineer to investigate and implement improvements in products and manufacturing processes that impact safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. You may lead engineering projects with cross-disciplinary teams to drive productivity and process optimization.

The role involves providing technical input across design, fabrication, installation, and validation of equipment and processes, and supporting planning for new or improved manufacturing

Qualifications

• Four-year engineering degree required; 2+ years in engineering environment, or Master’s with 2+ years in engineering.
• Experience in medical device industry preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office for planning and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, plan, and implement improvements to products and processes affecting safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and productivity.
• Provide technical assistance to lead projects across departments; plan, schedule, and coordinate resources.
• Assist with cause identification and problem resolution for production or service issues.
• Contribute to design, fabrication, development, installation, validation, and qualification of equipment and processes.
• Plan projects to develop, install, and qualify new processes for manufacturing new products or improving existing ones.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for investigating, planning, and implementing the improvements in and/or additions to current products and manufacturing processes that directly affect safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and productivity. May be involved with leading projects requiring engineering team effort or a multi-discipline team effort.

Job Details/Responsibilities

• In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures. 2. Provide technical assistance to plan and implement specified projects to be completed including organizing and leading projects of various departments, planning and scheduling, coordinating resources (personnel, materials, time, money, suppliers), preparing proper documentation, etc.
• Assist with cause-identification and problem-resolution for various types of production or service-related issues.
• Provide engineering input in the design, fabrication, development, installation, validation, and qualification of equipment / processes which may include feasibility studies and/or proper documentation for justification of project and training to ensure proper operation of the equipment.
• Provide assistance for planning and implementation of projects to develop, install, and qualify new processes for manufacturing new products or improving existing processes.
• Research and implement cost reduction projects.
• May assist in maintaining plant-wide calibration system and drawing control/document control system.
• Gather, track, and analyze production data for meetings, business plan, etc. (yields/output/efficiencies).
• Plan work schedules, expenditures, attend meetings, and prepare monthly reports as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

Requires a four-year college degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and a minimum of three years of experience in an engineering, scientific or technical environment or a Master’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and a minimum of two years of experience in an engineering, scientific or technical environment. Basic computer software skills, i.e. Microsoft Office. Experience in medical device industry preferred.
