Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Houston seeks an Engineer I–Software Development to join the L1 QA team. You will design and enhance an automated framework using C++ to validate a data center storage solution in a fast-paced environment.

You will read specifications, develop tests, debug failures, and maintain test infrastructure while collaborating with QA and Development teams under Agile processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 2+ years of proven programming experience using C++ and Bash Shell scripting.
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and programming best practices.
• Strong analysis and debug skills.
• Experience working in multi-threaded environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with Linux operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Understand product implementation and expected product behaviors by reading specifications and source code.
• Develop automated tests for validating new solutions and feature sets.

• Maintain servers and other hardware/software components used for continuous automated testing.
• Work with QA and Development teams to track and provide estimates for tasks by utilizing and following the Agile methodology.

Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. has an opening for an Engineer I–Software Development position in Houston, Texas. In this role, the candidate will work as a C++ software developer in the L1 Quality Assurance (QA) team to enhance and maintain a custom framework for validating storage solutions in a fast paced, non-stop, automated test environment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Able to apply memory management techniques in low-memory environments
• Familiarity with server storage technologies and concepts (RAID, SCSI, etc.)
• In addition to strong C++ coding experience, experience with Java, Python, and/or Perl is a plus
