Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Transportation Engineer I to join our team in King of Prussia, PA. The role focuses on design and analysis of transportation facilities including new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Essential tasks include designing alignments, preparing plan profiles, and developing cost estimates, with collaboration across disciplines. Ideal candidates hold a BS in civil engineering and up to five years of roadway design experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0–5 years of experience in roadway design.
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets.
• Design temporary traffic control plans.
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Support preparation of design documentation.
• Support preparation of specifications packages.

As a Highway/Roadway Engineer with RK&K, your responsibilities will include design and analysis of transportation facilities. Projects will include, but not be limited to new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Essential Functions

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments
• Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
• Design temporary traffic control plans
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
• Support preparation of design documentation
• Support preparation of specifications packages
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• Zero (0) to Five (5) years of experience in roadway design
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principals

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in PA or ability to obtain within six (6) months
• Microstation or CADD experience
• Innovative intersection design
• Sidewalk or shared use path design
• Roadway widening or new alignment design
