Job summary

ASM is seeking a Mechanical Designer to create and manage detailed 3D CAD models and drawings for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will collaborate with mechanical engineers and cross-functional teams to translate complex concepts into manufacturable designs and release documentation.

Responsibilities include maintaining BOMs, applying tolerances, supporting packaging studies, and driving documentation accuracy across the product lifecycle with PLM/PDM workflows.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of mechanical design, drafting, or CAD modeling experience.
  • Proficiency with Creo Parametric or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Experience creating detailed drawings and assemblies; GD&T understanding.
  • Familiar with PLM/PDM systems and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and detailed drawings using Creo.
  • Generate component, assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings per standards.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and product structures.
  • Incorporate tolerances and manufacturing constraints into design documentation.
  • Assist in packaging studies, layout development, and equipment configuration.
  • Prepare complete engineering release packages with drawings, specs, and docs.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and configuration control throughout the lifecycle.
  • Process ECRs and ECOs; support PDM/PLM release workflows.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and suppliers.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and design verification activities.

Job's mission

The Mechanical Designeris responsibleforcreating,maintaining, and managing detailed mechanical designs, 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and product documentation for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role works closely with mechanical engineers and cross-functional teams to translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs andreleasedproduct documentation.

The Mechanical Designer / Drafter plays a critical role in supporting product development, configuration management, prototype builds, and manufacturing release activities while ensuring compliance with company standards, drafting practices, and engineering requirements.

What you will be working on
  • Create andmaintain3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and detailed drawings using Creo or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Generatecomponent, assembly, fabrication, and installation drawingsin accordance with engineering standards and drafting practices.
  • Develop andmaintainBills of Materials (BOMs), product structures, and related documentation.
  • Incorporate engineering requirements, tolerances, and manufacturing constraints into design documentation.
  • Assistin packaging studies, layout development, and equipment configuration activities.
Engineering Documentation
  • Prepare complete engineering release packages, including drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.
  • ProcessEngineeringChange Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Ensuredocumentationaccuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Support product data management (PDM/PLM) processes and release workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Suppliers to support product development and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews and support implementation of review feedback.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to resolve documentation issues and improve producibility.
  • Support prototype assembly, system integration, and design verification activities as needed.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identifyopportunities to improve drawing quality, documentation efficiency, and design standardization.
  • Support development and maintenance of CAD libraries, design standards, anddraftingbest practices.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering projects.
What we are looking for
  • Associate'sorBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or CAD modeling.
  • Proficiencywith Creo Parametric or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and mechanical assemblies.
  • Understanding ofGD&T principles and engineering drawing standards.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
What sets you apart
  • Experience in semiconductor, capital equipment, aerospace, medical device, or other precision equipment industries.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5or ISO GPSdrawing standards and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, thermal systems, fluid handling systems, or precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and engineering change management.
