Job summary

Moog Inc. is seeking an Avionics Systems and Flight Controls Engineer for the Air Vehicle Design team within the Military Aircraft Group. The role is onsite in Mineral Wells, TX and reports to the Air Vehicle Engineering Manager.

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field along with strong knowledge of aircraft/avionics systems is required. The candidate will participate in design reviews, contribute to control law development, software coding, and flight test activities,

Qualifications

  • Hold an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other significant related engineering degrees and related technical engineering professional experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft and avionics systems.
  • Solid understanding of design and development processes, software and techniques; spreadsheet software and word processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate customer requests and formulate design changes to meet requirements.
  • Analyze feasibility, manufacturability, cost, and production time of proposals with engineers.
  • Support avionics system development and design.
  • Support system/software integration activities to verify proper functionality of products.
  • Support development of testing tools and applications for integration and testing.

Our Air Vehicle Design team in our Military Aircraft Group is looking for an Avionics Systems and Flight Controls Engineer to join them. You will report to the Air Vehicle Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Mineral Wells, TX.

To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
  • Hold an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other significant related engineering degrees and related technical engineering professional experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft and avionics systems.
  • Individual should have knowledge of design and development processes, software and techniques; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
  • Solid understanding of classical and modern control laws, software coding of control laws, and techniques for autopilot development.
In This Role, You Will
  • Work with others to review and evaluate product requests from customers and formulate conceptual and feasible design changes to existing products to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with others to analyze project proposals to determine feasibility, manufacturability, cost, and production time, and discuss proposals with engineers and other personnel.
  • Support customer avionics system development and design.
  • Support system/software integration activities to verify proper functionality of the products.
  • Support development of new testing applications or modifies existing tools to support integration activities and formal tests.
  • Support the software/system development activities for the company’s new and legacy product lines.
  • Support the development and implementation of OASIS and EICAS configurations based on customer requirements, FAA requirements, human factor considerations, and standard aviation certification practices.
  • Support avionics systems ground and flight testing.
  • Support system and subsystem analysis and requirements specification.
  • Support system and subsystem modelling and performance analysis.
  • Support flight control law/autopilot development, control law software coding, and flight dynamics model development.
  • Certification project support: TSO and STC projects.
  • Support evaluation of product design for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, quality standards, and specifications.
  • Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, at times more than 30%.
  • Must be able to do engineering work in flight test on aircraft.

Salary Range Transparency

Mineral Wells, TX $70,000.00–$80,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
