Job summary

Andersen Corporation is seeking a manufacturing engineering professional to support a production line in Cottage Grove, MN. The role focuses on monitoring, controlling, and improving existing manufacturing processes to meet customer and business needs.

You will apply lean techniques, lead technical assignments, and develop SOPs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience preferred with mechanical aptitude.
  • Allows working with cross functional teams and project planning.
  • Experience with quality systems, SPC, lean tools.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to a range of technical assignments.
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D solid modeling (AutoCAD/Inventor).
  • This role is based in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, five days a week; no sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize lean process design techniques to optimize manufacturing system performance.
  • Plan, organize, and lead technical aspects of large-scale assignments.
  • Create training tools, documents, and SOPs for production processes.
  • Provide recommendations on new or current process design solutions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings, Kaizens, and process design events.
  • Drive corrective action through root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Work with Safety group to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Assess ergonomic conditions and propose practical improvements.
  • Persuade value stream partners to adopt continuous improvement ideas.
  • Stay informed on industry tech developments for Andersen products.
  • Provide operational technical support for existing applications and processes.
  • Ensure built-in quality using DMAIC tools and control plans.

Job Description

PURPOSE: This position is responsible for providing engineering support to a manufacturing line at our Renewal by Andersen location in Cottage Grove, MN. Primary focus will be on monitoring, controlling, and improving existing manufacturing processes, and to ensure customer and business needs are met. The ideal candidate for this position is an innovative thinker and has a passion for operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Utilize effective lean process design techniques to optimize overall manufacturing system performance by providing innovative solutions that integrate within the value stream
  • Plan, organize, and lead technical aspects of large-scale assignments to successful conclusion
  • Create training tools, documents, and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability
  • Provide recommendations regarding the viability of developed design solutions that relate to new or current processes
  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, kaizens, and Process System Design events
  • Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving
  • Partner with the Safety group to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements
  • Accurately assess ergonomic conditions within the manufacturing environment and provide practical solutions to eliminate ergonomic risk
  • Exhibit persuasiveness to sell continuous improvement ideas to value stream management and delivery partners
  • Stay well-informed on industry technology developments and explore their use in Andersen products
  • Provide operational technical support for existing applications and processes
  • Ensure built in quality by using DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans
Qualification and Skill Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience
  • 2+ years of engineering experience preferred with mechanical aptitude
  • Understands and applies methodologies associated with project planning and experience working with collaborative, cross functional teams
  • Strong aptitude in problem solving using analytical tools and making process improvements
  • Communicate effectively through written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience with quality systems, statistical process control, process capability and lean manufacturing tools
  • Ability to effectively apply acquired knowledge and skills to a variety of assignments within a moderate range of technical difficulty
  • Strong experience in building and maintaining relationships
  • Experience with change management strategies
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D solid modeling preferred (AutoCad/Inventor)
  • This role is based in Cottage Grove, Minnesota and is in the plant 5 days per week. There is no sponsorship assistance available for this position.
Pay Range

$78,824.00 - $122,176.00

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit‑sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
