Job summary

Intertek is seeking an Engineer - Energy/Safety to join its Electrical team in Lake Forest, California. You will perform testing and evaluation against national and international safety standards, prepare reports, and communicate with clients.

Under supervision, you may travel up to 25% to support on-site assessments and product certification projects. The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, strong communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

What are we looking for?

This Engineer position is responsible for performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. Under the guidance of a more senior Engineer, may also conduct on and off-site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s). This position has the potential for 25% travel.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $75,000to $85,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:
  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Complete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site.
  • Develop, set up, and follow established test plans.
  • Compile test results during construction review and testing.Compile data and product description and type final report using established report shell.Submit report to reviewer for final approval.
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Within policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
  • Working knowledge in electrical circuit design/analysis principles
  • Semiconductor experience
  • Prior project management experience
  • Experience directly related to product safety testing or certification
  • Demonstrated experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC)
  • Familiar with EV charger, inverter, energy storage and other similar appliances
