Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Newport News seeks an engineer to apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including analysis, design, testing and documentation of results.

You will support development of prototype electromechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies and power systems; qualification testing; and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience. U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies and components; and quality testing.
  • Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.

Salary Range: $124,000.00 to $153,000.00

The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.

The Role

Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.

Must Have
  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with 3-phase power
  • Power Generation and Power distribution technology on in-service aircraft carriers
