Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking an electrical engineering professional to apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to developing and testing electromechanical systems. You will support design, testing and fabrication of prototypes in a role that sits at the boundary of electrical and mechanical engineering.

The position requires a Bachelor's in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with 2 years of relevant exempt experience, or a Master's with no required experience.

• Works at the boundary of electrical and mechanical systems; switches, relays, generators, load centers, switchboards, motors, and related components.

The Role

Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.

This role is in an electrical engineering department and is best suited for an individual with an electrical engineering background who is mechanically inclined. You will work at the boundary of electrical and mechanical systems; switches, relays, generators, Load centers, switchboards, motors, air gap separation.

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;
• Master's Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
• Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
