Job summary

Constellation, based in Massachusetts, seeks an experienced engineer to support power plant operations. The role focuses on advanced technical problem solving, engineering analyses, and guidance to engineers as a technical expert.

You will contribute to critical decisions and lead initiatives affecting plant performance. Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's in engineering with 7 years of experience, familiarity with NERC standards, and hands-on HV electrical work including DCS/PLC systems.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with NERC Standards is required.
  • Field engineering at Electrical Power Plant or similar industrial atmosphere.
  • Experience with electrical controls and protection devices and philosophy.
  • HV installation, maintenance, and testing experience.
  • DCS and PLC familiarity

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop and implement engineering analyses.
  • Consult and mentor engineers; lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Lead short- and long-term programs affecting site operations.
  • Perform engineering tasks applying core engineering principles.
  • Ensure design criteria, procedures, and codes are followed in plans.

Expected salary range of $138,600 to $154,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Primary Purpose Of Position

Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of Power plant operations while acting as a resource and technical expert to engineers. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement and as a subject matter expert when consulted to identify and resolve equipment and system problems. Has completed assigned skills and knowledge development training (applicable Advanced Engineering, EPRI, and Constellation University training or industry provided training) to develop expert level of knowledge in designated areas. Mentor other engineers in key knowledge and skills. Demonstrated proficiency leading cross functional initiatives at an asset/plant.
  • Directly fulfill engineering and technical leadership accountability regarding short-term and long-term programs that impact site operations.
  • Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
  • All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: (Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical), with 7 years technical experience or related engineering experience.
  • Maintain minimum access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties
  • Needing someone with Electrical Engineering Bachelors degree/experience
  • Familiarity with NERC and NERC Standards
  • Field Engineering experience at Electrical Power Plant or similar industrial atmosphere
  • Experience with electrical controls and protection devices and philosophy
  • Medium and High Voltage installation, maintenance, and testing experience
  • DCS and PLC familiarity
