Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. seeks a Graduate Engineer to join the Municipal Infrastructure team in Maple Grove. This role targets 1–3 years of municipal engineering experience, including internships, focusing on streets, stormwater, pedestrian facilities, and utilities.

Mentorship is provided to grow into a seasoned civil engineer. You will collaborate on design and modeling, develop construction estimates, and assist with plans, specs, and reports while gaining exposure to client and contractor

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal/state/local codes applicable to civil/municipal projects.
• Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• ABET-accredited degree in civil engineering required or related field.
• FE exam completed or in training to obtain EIT within six months.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of engineers in design and modeling of civil and municipal water infrastructure projects.
• Assist project teams with construction estimates, geometric design, plans, specifications and technical reports.
• Complete onsite observation during construction phases of projects.
• Represent HEI in communications with clients, contractors, landowners and public entities.

This role is intended for an individual with 1-3 years of experience in municipal engineering, including related internships, who is passionate about the planning, design and maintenance of essential city infrastructure including streets, stormwater systems, pedestrian facilities, public utilities and other public infrastructure. Our Graduate Engineers receive ongoing mentorship and guidance from experienced civil engineers as they grow into their career. Job Description

• Collaborate with a team of engineers in all phases of project development with preliminary and detailed design and modeling of civil and municipal water infrastructure projects
• Assist project teams with the development of construction estimates, geometric design, plans and specifications, presentations and technical reports
• Complete onsiteobservation during construction phases of projects
• Represent Houston Engineering, Inc in communications with clients, contractors, landowners and public entities

Qualifications

• An ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering degree
• Completion of the FE exam and Engineer-In-Training registration, or ability to obtain within six months of the employment start date
• Prior experience developing or working with construction profiles, plans and specifications related to transportation engineering
• Prior experience operating industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, and/or Open Roads
• Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
• Authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future.Sponsorship is not available for this position
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
