Textron Aviation is seeking an Engineer DFM Sr to coordinate with design teams and provide dimensional management plans throughout the design and build process. You will lead analysis, GD&T support, and tooling index strategies to balance cost and performance.

Responsibilities include developing build methodologies, performing design studies, and leading meetings to optimize manufacturing methods for complex aircraft components. Strong CAD and metrology skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems.
  • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency and Visual Studio programming a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, metrology, and GD&T a plus.
  • Catia V5/V6 and 3DCS experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to clearly communicate technical details to others

Responsabilités

  • Develop build methodologies for complex systems and components that capture all necessary functional requirements for the aircraft.
  • Conduct preliminary and detailed design studies, including aerodynamic, structural, and systems analysis, to ensure design meets project specifications, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead working level design/build meetings to identify optimal manufacturing methods, part sequencing, part and tooling index plans and document results.
  • Utilize stress and fatigue software to perform technical loads analysis, relating to structural integrity.
  • Perform variation analysis using statistical methods to determine manufacturing build plans.
  • Provide Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) support and analysis.
  • Recommend and develop new manufacturing processes and procedures to improve aircraft fabrication and assembly.
  • Design and develop new aircraft components using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis and provide solutions for design-related, tooling, or manufacturing related issues during the experimental and production build process.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present aircraft inspection data to determine prospective areas of improvements or troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Reverse engineer parts without electronic design information.

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinate with design teams to provide dimensional management plans through the design and build process. Provide advanced variation sequence, variation analysis, detail part datum generation, and tooling index strategies. Collaborate with Project Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling and M&P to facilitate design-build and the cost-variation balance.

Qualifications
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree required in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field

Minimum 5 years of manufacturing design or relative engineering experience required.

QUALIFICATONS:

Understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems.

Excel and PowerPoint proficiency and Visual Studio programming a plus.

Experience in manufacturing processes, metrology, and GD&T a plus.

Catia V5/V6 and 3DCS experience a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to clearly communicate technical details to others
