Job summary

CeramTec North America and DAI Ceramics in Laurens, SC, is seeking a Design Engineer to develop, test, and refine ceramic and glass-to-metal sealing products. You will use SolidWorks to create models, drawings, and BOMs, and collaborate with manufacturing and QA teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Design a wide variety of products using ceramic, glass-to-metal seals, and glass seals.
• Prepare manufacturing procedures including BOMs, routings, and part masters.
• Design fixtures and tooling for production.
• Create engineering drawings, revisions, and reports.
• Build and test prototypes to evaluate performance and cost.
• Analyze test data and perform root-cause analysis.

Summary:

A Design Engineer develops, tests, and refines products and systems. CeramTec uses SolidWorks software to create models, prototypes, and detailed drawings, while collaborating with teams to meet functional, cost, and safety requirements. This role is responsible for ensuring designs are manufacturable and meet company as well as industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design wide variety of products incorporating the use of ceramic, glass to metal seals, and glass seals.
• Preparation of procedures for manufacturing including BOM’s, process routings and part masters.
• Design of fixtures and tooling.
• Responsible for engineering drawings/revisions, engineering files, order flow control.
• Build and test prototypes (physical and virtual) to evaluate performance, structure, and cost-effectiveness.
• Able to create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports
• Able to analyze test data, conduct root cause failure analysis, and generate creative solutions
• Follow procedures and methods that are outlined in the Quality System.
• Process monitoring of customers and new products.
• Provides technical interface to customers working to provide solutions to their needs.
• SolidWorks system maintenance and recommendations for engineering requirements and improvements.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Mechanical, Industrial or other related Engineering Degree
• Strong team building skills to collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of Manufacturing and reporting
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Kan Ban, SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Familiar with ISO 9001
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
