Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; experience may substitute.
• 10+ years in database architecture, data engineering, or related fields.
• At least 5 years leading enterprise data modeling and design initiatives.
• Strong expertise in relational and non-relational databases and data modeling.
• Advanced SQL skills and performance tuning.
• Experience with data integration and APIs/service patterns.
• Security practices including auditing, encryption, and RBAC.
• Strong leadership and mentoring with cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in Agile software development.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Engineer Database Architect Lead SKMS based in United States.

Lead the architecture and evolution of enterprise data platforms supporting modern web-based software applications.

You will own database architecture, data modeling, integration, governance, and performance optimization across complex application environments.

The role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on database engineering and architectural leadership.

You will work closely with software engineers to enable APIs, services, application functionality, and reliable data flows.

A key focus will be designing scalable, secure, and high-performing relational and non-relational database solutions.

You will also provide technical guidance, establish architecture standards, and mentor engineering teams.

This position offers the opportunity to shape enterprise data capabilities while supporting mission-critical software development.

Accountabilities

• Lead enterprise database architecture and design activities, establishing scalable and maintainable data solutions for web-based applications.
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), aligned with application and business requirements.
• Design and implement relational and non-relational database architectures based on workload, performance, scalability, and integration needs.
• Develop and maintain database objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and other database components.
• Design and support data integration processes that enable reliable movement and transformation of data across application environments.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to support APIs, services, application workflows, and front-end web application functionality.
• Improve application performance through effective database architecture, query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Implement and oversee database security controls, auditing, encryption, and role-based access controls.
• Establish and apply data architecture, data modeling, governance, and database engineering methodologies.
• Provide technical leadership and architecture oversight while mentoring engineers and supporting sound technical decision-making.
• Contribute to Agile software development processes and ensure database architecture aligns with evolving application requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline; additional relevant experience may substitute where permitted.
• 10+ years of experience in database architecture, data engineering, software development, or closely related fields.
• At least 5 years of experience leading enterprise data modeling and database design initiatives.
• Strong expertise in enterprise database architecture, relational and non-relational database technologies, and data modeling methodologies.
• Advanced SQL skills, including database development, query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience designing data integration solutions and supporting APIs, services, and application integration patterns.
• Strong understanding of database security practices, including auditing, encryption, access controls, and role-based security.
• Ability to translate application and business requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable data architectures.
• Strong technical leadership, architecture oversight, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience working within Agile software development methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
