Job Summary

North Anna Power Station is looking for an Engineer (Associate to Staff Level) for its Electrical Design department. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Electrical Design:

Primary area of focus will be that of an electrical subject matter expert in support of an operating nuclear power plant. Specific duties include:

  1. Development and overseeing implementation of specifications and engineering changes.
  2. Review functional test requirements for equipment installation.
  3. Development and review of engineering technical evaluations supporting plant operation.
  4. Reviewing design implementation work orders and providing input to drawing updates in support of design development.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

0-2 years of experience: Associate Engineer; 2-5 years of experience: Engineer; 5-7 years of experience: Senior Engineer; 8+ years of experience: Staff Engineer.

Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position; competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives; understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management; ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.); planning, organizational and project management skills; ability to develop and exercise leadership skills; effective decision making skills; effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing); ability to think analytically and solve complex problems; ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices; equally effective working independently or in a team environment; ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program, or
  2. Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord, or
  3. Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited, or
  4. Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Bachelor’s in Engineering, Electrical.

Preferred Discipline(s): Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
