Job Summary

Application Engineer (AE) supports CECO Environmental’s Industrial Water platform, expanding product and service solutions across the Americas. The role develops custom systems, prepares proposals, and coordinates with cross‑functional teams to deliver water and wastewater treatment solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to business development, sales, and customers, deploying strategies that meet customer needs.
• Collaborates to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals, bookings, and margins.
• Interprets technical specifications and bid documents, preparing proposals and responses that maximize opportunity capture.
• Creates and develops RO, instrumentation, and control designs for projects and custom systems using forecasting software.
• Develops cost‑effective solutions and works with supply chain to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Prepares water mass balance and system performance projections.
• Works with drafting to prepare Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, General Arrangements, equipment layouts, and other drawings to support proposals and post‑award engineering submittals.
• Collaborates with purchasing, production, and supply chain to produce detailed cost estimates and project cost‑price models for pricing.
• Develops technical, commercial, and legal proposals, including process descriptions, work scopes, equipment lists, and performance guarantees that meet customer deadlines.
• Supports project management, purchasing, production, engineering, and drafting teams post‑award through system production, field installation, startup, commissioning, and operations, including performance testing and warranty claims.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with end users, EPCs, and engineering consultants.
• Manages data and communicates activities and results to collaborate with the global sales team.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of application engineering and proposal experience for custom integrated industrial water and wastewater treatment systems, including aeration, clarification, disinfection, filtration, ion exchange, and membrane technologies.
• Experience in using influent water analysis and effluent requirements to model solutions meeting Capital Expenditure and Operating Expenditure goals.
• Knowledge of technical, commercial, and legal principles related to proposals, costing, pricing, and contract negotiations for business risk mitigation.

Travel Requirements

Incumbents are expected to travel up to 25 % of the time, with a preference for the ability to travel internationally.

ADA Requirements

Work Environment: Largely sedentary, with occasional physical computer and networking system work. Requires concentrated mental and visual attention, complex tasks requiring high accuracy, and sustained hand‑eye coordination.

• Typical tasks performed under comfortable conditions; undesirable factors are generally absent.
• Compliance with company attendance standards.
• Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and computer use.
• Warehouse environment with climate control; ability to move around.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
