Job summary

Arcadis in Southern California is seeking an Engineer II to join our team in Irvine, CA, to develop PS&E packages for traffic signals and ITS. The role requires familiarity with state and local guidelines and collaboration with designers and field staff.

You will draft design sheets, prepare specifications, and develop cost estimates, while performing field reviews of signal equipment and interconnect networks. PE eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering.
• 4+ years of civil engineering experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation CAD software and at least one simulation model.

Responsibilities

• Assist with PS&E submittal packages for traffic signals, interconnects, and ITS.
• Draft and review design sheets: signal layout, phasing diagrams, schedules, signing/striping plans.
• Prepare project specifications per agency guidelines.
• Develop cost estimates, unit prices, and quantity take-offs across submittal stages.
• Conduct on-site field reviews and inventory of signal equipment and cables.
• Prepare field notes and picture logs.

The candidate will need to be familiar with state and local guidelines to deliver plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages for traffic signal installations and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).Role accountabilities:Assist with production of PS&E submittal packages for new/existing traffic signals, interconnect networks, and ITS field infrastructureDraft and review design sheets, including signal layout, phasing diagram, pole and conductor schedules, and signing/striping plansPrepare project specifications per agency guidelines.Develop engineer’s cost estimates, unit price schedules, and quantity take-offs across various submittal stages of the projectPerform on-site field reviews and inventory of existing signal equipment, such as conduit, pole types, controller cabinets, pull boxes, and interconnect cablesPrepare detailed field notes and picture logsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering4+ years of relevant work experience in Civil EngineeringExperience is required in CAD software (AutoCAD and or MicroStation) and experience with one or more simulation modelsPreferred Qualifications:Experience is desirable with one or more signal timing analysis tools for both isolated and coordinated signals, as well as simulation tools to illustrate traffic operation with signal timing plansKnowledge of industry design manuals and standards: CAMUTCD and Caltrans Standard PlansCalifornia Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 monthsWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
