Job summary

Pike Engineering seeks an entry-level engineer to deliver engineering/technical expertise with close supervision. You will develop skills in your field and work toward greater independence while solving problems for utility clients.

As part of a safety-conscious, collaborative team, you will contribute to reports, calculations, and design work, and you will interact with other professionals to support project goals and client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET/EAC accredited engineering program or equivalent evaluation accepted by NCEES.
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
  • Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and present recommendations.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering/technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively.
  • Prepare thorough technical reports, calculations, and sketches.
  • Continuously improve engineering knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Support company goals and represent the company positively.

The compensation range for this position is between$67,080-$67,080/yr.


Position Overview: This is the first level of the Engineering classification. Provide engineering/technical expertise to solve problems in a specific area of expertise, with close supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their field of study, and the ability to work with greater independence.


Duties & Responsibilities

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES OR graduation from a Master’s or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering Programs.

  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.

  • Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.

  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Understanding of basic electricity and power quality.

  • Knowledge of Distribution construction standards and methods.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
