Job summary

Westinghouse is seeking a Nuclear Instrumentation and Control Engineer to contribute to signal processing and control system design across new and existing plants. Hybrid schedule requires two days per week at the New Stanton, PA site, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor.

You will develop drawings, specifications, and test procedures, while addressing obsolescence and technical issues. Opportunities for travel and collaboration with suppliers and customers are available.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 0+ years of experience.
  • Strong technical interest.
  • Familiarity with power industry instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering team for creating drawings and design/technical specifications for Nuclear Instrumentation Systems.
  • Compile technical documents / specifications for procurement/manufacturing.
  • Support resolution of technical issues including obsolescence.
  • Develop hardware design documentation such as cabinet layout drawings and schematics.
  • Create test procedures and execute tests.
  • Support root cause investigation and defect tracking.
  • Travel to customer/supplier sites (domestic and international).

Job description

About The Role

As a Westinghouse Nuclear Instrumentation and Control Engineer, you will be part of a high performing team assisting on a variety of projects to help new or existing nuclear power plants implement world class nuclear instrumentation signal processing and control systems. You will work with experienced colleagues to develop new designs and help upgrade and refresh existing designs to the state‑of‑the‑art in a growing field with countless opportunities for deep technical growth.

You will work a hybrid schedule, reporting 2 days per week at the Westinghouse New Stanton, PA location.

You will report to the Engineering Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering team for creating drawings and design/technical specifications Nuclear Instrumentation Systems.
  • Compile technical documents / specifications for procurement/manufacturing.
  • Support resolution of technical issues including obsolescence.
  • Support supplier or manufacturing operations with technical issue resolution.Support development of system and hardware design specifications for Instrumentation and Control systems for new and existing plants.
  • Support creation of hardware design documentation such as cabinet layout drawings, cable/wiring schematics, and PCB layout/schematics.
  • Support Test document creation and test execution.
  • Develop test procedures from System Design and Software Requirement documents.
  • Support root cause investigation of defects and coordinate defect tracking efforts.
  • Provide support to customers for installation and emergent technical issues.
  • Opportunities to travel to customer and supplier sites (domestic and international).
Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or degree with relevant industry experience. New graduate engineers encouraged to apply.
  • 0+ years of experience.
  • Strong technical interest.
  • Apply fundamental engineering principles.
  • Work within a team and coordinate external support, as needed, to successfully complete project scope.
  • Communicate (written and verbal) analyses basis, summary of results, proposed solutions, and implementation instructions to customers and team members.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis/design.
  • Awareness of field devices and control devices typical to the power industry.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment use (oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator, etc.) is preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of overall design and operation of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and systems is preferred but not required.
  • Awareness of typical industry standard drawings including P&ID drawings, loop diagrams, cabinet drawings and panel layouts is a plus.
Salary

Base salary range: $58,000 to $73,000 per year.
