Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking an Engineer to perform systems studies, project engineering and project management for gas distribution facilities. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction, with overtime for emergencies.

You will develop plans, designs, cost estimates and manage construction for gas distribution projects in assigned areas. The position requires a BS in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, EIT or PE preferred, and experience with AutoCAD, WinFlow

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college.
  • E.I.T. certification or PE license preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD, WinFlow and Maximo experience.
  • Gas transmission/distribution engineering experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain plans for future improvements and expansions of gas distribution systems.
  • Develop engineering designs, cost estimates, and project management for gas distribution systems.
  • Plan, design, budget, engineer, and manage gas construction projects.
  • Provide technical support to design and construction teams and other departments.
  • Ensure and maintain Gas Code Compliance facilities data.
  • Prepare bid packages and present information to contractors at bid meetings.
  • Contribute to department and division goals; identify cost improvements.
  • Participate in emergencies and special projects as required.

This engineer is subject to overtime response for emergency event support.Key responsibilities include:Develop and maintain a plan for future improvements and expansions of the gas distribution systems in assigned areas.Develop engineering designs, cost estimates, and project management for gas distribution systems.Plan, design, budget, engineer, and manage gas construction projects related to reliability, government highway projects, system growth, and essential maintenance for the gas distribution system.Provide technical support to Distribution Design Supervisor, Field Engineering Representatives, Distribution Design Specialists, the Gas Construction Supervisors, other departments, customers and other organizations.Ensure and maintain Gas Code Compliance facilities data.As required, prepare bid packages and present information to contractors at bid meetings.Contribute to the development and implementation of department and division goals. Identify and implement improvements in processes and operations to control costs and improve productivity.Participate in special projects or tasks, including emergencies, as required.QualificationsBachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (other engineering disciplines acceptable depending upon qualifications) from an accredited college or university required. E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) certification or P.E. Gas transmission and/or distribution related engineering experience preferred. Project management experience preferred. Civil preferred as well as AutoCad, WinFlow, and Maximo usage. Experience in design and construction of natural gas lines preferred.In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and human relations skills required. Must have good analytical skills, mapping, drafting, and advanced computer skills. Must be adaptable and flexible. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and also independently required. Subject to 24 hour emergency call out.Additional InformationAmeren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.Compensation Range:$71,100.00 - $172,200.00* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered.
