Job summary

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas seeks a skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure every area of the property—from guest chambers to meeting spaces and restaurants—remains functional and attractive for guests, clients, vendors, and teammates.

You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to repair requests, and help maintain safety procedures while working with a professional team in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Qualifications

  • Completes assigned work orders for general repair within the allotted time to maintain hotel operations and guest comfort.
  • Performs system checks and preventive maintenance to prevent malfunctions and keep equipment in good working order.
  • Responds quickly and courteously to guest maintenance requests and problems as they arise.
  • Maintains tools, workspaces, and equipment in safe, secure condition to reduce accidents and prolong use.
  • Adheres to safety policies and hotel regulations and ensures clean, organized work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and changes room locks for security and guest safety.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs hotel equipment such as televisions, alarm clocks, HVAC units, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Assists in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for guests and team members.
  • Inspects various hotel areas, including attics and basements, for safety and functionality.
  • Maintains a neat, professional appearance and positive demeanor at all times.

Job description

As an engineer you will ensure that everything in the hotel from the guest rooms (a.k.a. chambers), meeting rooms, restaurants, offices, is in good working order for our guests, clients, vendors, and teammates. Additionally, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling, and general upkeep to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers.

Requirements
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
  • Completes assigned work orders for general repair within assigned time frame to achieve the utmost operational efficiency of the hotel, its safety, and its equipment
  • Performs systematic checks and inspections to aid in the upkeep of the hotel and assists in the established proactive maintenance program to prevent malfunctions, breakdowns, and general depreciation
  • Immediately and courteously responds to guests needs to repair and/or resolve room maintenance requests and problems as they arise
  • Maintains tools, workspaces, and equipment in safe, secure, and good condition to reduce accidents and to prolong their use
  • Repairs and/or changes room locks for the security of hotel and guests
  • Adjusts and repairs electronic problems on hotel equipment, including televisions, alarm clocks, HVAC units, etc.
  • Assists department in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and teammates
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous manner always.
  • Report to designated shift in assigned attire on time (if applicable)
WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
  • Ability to work on weekends and holidays

  • Must have basic working knowledge in the following areas: general plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning electrical systems, boilers bathroom fixtures and tiling painting, prep to finish basic carpentry, grounds keeping, etc.
  • Must have vision to read written communication, LED read-outs, meters, and computer screens
  • Must have finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to pull levers and rotate knobs, work with arms raised above head and to handle and assemble small parts using basic hand and power tools
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, communicate both verbally and in writing, utilize analytical thought processes, understand verbal/written technical and mechanical instruction, and be highly organized.
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees, guests, and contractors in writing, via telephone and in person
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
  • Adhere to hotel policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, and behavior
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • Enjoy being around and working with people
MUST HAVE'S
  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • High school or equivalent education required
  • A bility to work a flexible schedule
  • EPA Universal certification
  • HVAC certified
  • NEC certification
  • OSHA 10/10 compliant certified
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must have leg strength and ability to crawl into and through small spaces, climb ladders, support, and carry loads of 75lbs. throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise, crowds, smoke, and vibration. Incumbents are at times subjected to hazards such as the dangers associated with the use of basic hand and power tools and testing equipment
  • This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions. Proper clothing is provided
  • Inspect and maintain areas for which are responsible
  • Review and comprehend all necessary documentation
  • Examine all areas of the facility, including attics and basements, which require climbing, balancing, crawling, and reaching to be able to accurately inspect all areas
  • Around extreme heat when working in the boiler room
  • Use small hand tools such as screwdrivers and pliers to make all necessary repairs
  • Use all equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to basic hand and power tools and testing equipment
  • Effectively and efficiently move around work areas
