Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 5+ years in utility engineering, gas distribution design, or utility construction.
• Experience with engineering calculations, pressure studies, load analysis, and cost estimation.
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience using GIS mapping systems, preferably ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and manage natural gas distribution system projects from concept through completion.
• Perform engineering calculations, pressure studies, load analyses, and system evaluations.
• Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Lead pipeline design activities and evaluate system requirements for new installations and upgrades.
• Prepare project estimates, budgets, schedules, and economic justifications.
• Oversee project execution and coordinate with contractors, vendors, utility companies, and stakeholders.
• Review construction activities, costs, and completed work for compliance with design specs.
• Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for system performance.
• Support system reliability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Ensure compliance with DOT CFR 192 and company standards.

A leading utility company is seeking an experienced Engineer IV to support the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of its natural gas distribution system. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of gas infrastructure while driving capital improvement and system expansion projects.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical engineering expertise, project management experience, and a solid understanding of utility distribution systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact infrastructure initiatives that directly support operational excellence and public safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and manage natural gas distribution system projects from concept through completion.
• Perform engineering calculations, pressure studies, load analyses, and system evaluations to support infrastructure improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
• 5+ years of experience in utility engineering, gas distribution design, pipeline design, or utility construction.
• Experience performing engineering calculations, pressure studies, load analysis, and project cost estimation.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience using GIS mapping systems, preferably ArcGIS.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the natural gas utility industry.
• Pipeline design and construction experience.
• Knowledge of cathodic protection systems.
• Experience managing capital improvement or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with utility permitting processes and right-of-way coordination.
• Experience utilizing Bluebeam software.
• Experience with pressure modeling software, preferably Synergi Gas or similar modeling platforms.
