This role serves as the primary systems engineering focal, partnering across engineering, controls, program leadership, and key stakeholders to help deliver critical milestones from development through fielded application.

The ADEC/EMSC Systems Focal for Large Combat Engines (LCE) leads technical execution and program coordination for the ADEC and EMSC Refresh programs supporting the F110-129 and F110-100 afterburning engines. This role serves as the primary systems engineering focal, partnering across engineering, controls, program leadership, and key stakeholders to help deliver critical milestones from development through fielded application.

Large Combat Engines is a dynamic and growing organization supporting fielded engines for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, foreign military customers, and new product introduction efforts for Turkish Aerospace and Edison Works. In this role, you will lead technical activities across the ADEC/EMSC program, including support for first flight, flight test, and engine airworthiness documentation for operational use.

This is a highly visible systems engineering leadership role for a candidate who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, aligning cross-functional teams, and driving execution in a fast-paced defense environment.

Systems engineering is a cross-functional discipline that integrates technical, business, and customer needs to deliver high-quality products and services. It includes defining and managing system requirements, developing and evaluating design concepts, performing trade studies, selecting and implementing the best solutions, and ensuring the final system is fully integrated, verified, and ready for production and operation.

This role has a direct impact on the team’s ability to meet objectives for quality, delivery, and execution. It offers moderate autonomy and requires strong technical judgment, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the LCE organization for engineering program planning and execution.
  • Serve as the systems engineering focal for the ADEC/EMSC Refresh effort on F110-129 and F110-100 engines.
  • Partner with Controls leadership to meet cost, schedule, reporting, and execution objectives.
  • Manage product and system requirements, specifications, and requirements flow-down.
  • Lead system-level validation and verification activities, including testing for the overall product/system.
  • Define product requirements for modules, components, subcontractors, and partner teams.
  • Manage interfaces across components, teams, and execution organizations to ensure aligned integration.
  • Drive CTQ (Critical to Quality) and risk trade studies across component design teams.
  • Own overall product configuration and support configuration control processes.
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend practical solutions, best practices, and process improvements.
  • Stay informed on relevant industry trends, tools, and practices that may improve program execution.
  • Use sound technical and operational judgment to make decisions and solve complex problems across engineering, manufacturing, product management, and technology.
  • Assess the quality of available information, ask the right questions, and develop well-supported recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Lead functional teams and projects, influencing outcomes and helping others evaluate alternative approaches when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design, from an accredited college or university with minimum of 8 years of professional experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering role (MIL-HDBK-516C methods of compliance)
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
Desired Characteristics
  • Demonstrated success leading significant programs or projects.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Familiarity with military Earned Value Management (EVM) methods and requirements.
  • Strong customer-facing relationship building skills.
  • Recognized as approachable, collaborative, and inclusive.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, and drive execution.
  • Ability to document, plan, communicate, and execute complex technical programs.
