Job summary

San Mateo County Community College District is seeking adjunct history faculty to teach courses aligned with the regular History Department curriculum. You will consult with students during office hours, stay current with teaching methods, and apply discipline technologies to enhance learning.

The position is offered on an as-needed basis, with duties governed by contract and the district’s academic standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Master’s or higher in history OR Bachelor’s in history AND Master’s or higher in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science, or ethnic studies (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of teaching college-level history across multiple areas (Western Civilization, U.S. History, etc.).
• Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded practice and diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes as assigned from the regular History Department curriculum.
• Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
• Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.
• Perform other duties as required by contract and college needs.
