• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
• Licensed in Foreign Language for grades 5–12 (Massachusetts DESE).
• Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license.
• Master's Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media.
• Implements district philosophy, goals, and performance expectations.
• Assesses student progress and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by policy and regulations.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Protects students, equipment, and materials.
• Follows code of conduct and develops classroom rules.
• Plans and supervises paraprofessional assignments and writes evaluations.
• Maintains ongoing professional growth and participates in teacher evaluations.
• Attends meetings to promote communication and mutual decisions.
• Participates in school activities as per contract.
• Contributes to district and building decisions on budget, facilities, and curriculum.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
