Job summary

City of Monroe (NC) seeks a childcare attendant to supervise children aged 3 months to 12 years and help run arts, crafts, sports, and story time. The role includes maintaining hygiene, preparing snacks, and reporting on records and safety.

The position requires high school completion (or current enrollment), CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and a valid NC driver’s license. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of child care practices and safety.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Experience in babysitting or working with children preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license or work permit; out-of-state license accepted for visiting students.

Responsibilities

• Supervise infants and children from 3 months to 12 years, encouraging development.
• Assist in arts and crafts, sports, story time and other activities.
• Check personal hygiene, administer snacks, inspect toys and equipment daily.
• Prepare records, files and reports as needed.
• Perform related tasks and maintain professional behavior with staff and parents.
