Job description

Streamliners is a management consulting firm specializing in rapid efficiency improvements, operational excellence, and business turnarounds. We partner with manufacturers and private equity-owned portfolio companies across North America and Europe to solve complex business challenges, improve financial performance, maximize profit margins, and create sustainable enterprise value.

We are a team of hands-on problem solvers who work alongside our clients to turn strategic objectives into measurable results. Our approach combines financial and operational analysis with practical execution, helping organizations achieve meaningful improvements in profitability, productivity, and performance.

Who You Are

You are a commercially minded, analytically rigorous leader who understands how businesses make money—and, more importantly, how to improve it.

You bring a strong foundation in finance, business management, or consulting, combined with direct experience owning a P&L or managing the financial performance of a business, division, or operating unit. You are comfortable moving between financial statements, operational data, and the realities of leading people through change.

You think like an owner, approach problems with an investor's mindset, and execute like an operator. You can identify the drivers of profitability, develop fact-based improvement strategies, and work directly with management teams to deliver measurable financial and operational results.

You are self-directed, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating in demanding environments with limited direction. You communicate effectively with executives and frontline teams alike, and you thrive in situations where the path forward requires both rigorous analysis and decisive action.

You should be comfortable conducting, leading, and coaching analyses such as:

  • P&L analysis, profitability improvement, and margin expansion
  • Financial modeling, business case development, and performance forecasting
  • Cost structure analysis, cost reduction, and operating expense optimization
  • Working capital, inventory, and cash flow improvement
  • Operational performance analysis, capacity utilization, and bottleneck identification
  • KPI development, performance management, and management reporting
  • Root cause analysis, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness
  • Business planning, resource allocation, and productivity improvement
The Role

As an Engagement Manager, you will lead client workstreams and transformation initiatives focused on improving business performance, profitability, and enterprise value.

Working alongside Streamliners colleagues and client leadership teams, you will translate financial and strategic objectives into actionable operational improvement plans. You will take ownership of initiatives from initial assessment and financial analysis through implementation, execution, and results validation.

You will serve as a trusted partner to executives, business owners, and private equity stakeholders, helping them understand the financial and operational drivers of performance and prioritize the actions that will deliver the greatest business impact.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to move beyond recommendations and take an active role in implementing change, managing project teams, resolving execution challenges, and ensuring that improvement initiatives translate into measurable results.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Lead client engagements, project workstreams, business transformations, and turnaround initiatives.
  • Analyze financial statements, operating metrics, and business performance to identify opportunities for profitability improvement, margin expansion, and cash flow enhancement.
  • Develop financial models, improvement targets, business cases, and implementation plans to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with client executives and operating leaders to establish performance objectives, KPIs, accountability structures, and execution priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in implementing cost reduction, productivity improvement, working capital optimization, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Identify and address the operational, organizational, and financial root causes of underperformance.
  • Translate strategic and financial objectives into practical changes in manufacturing processes, workforce deployment, material flows, and management systems.
  • Monitor initiative performance, quantify realized benefits, and help ensure improvements are sustained.
  • Conduct operational assessments, financial and commercial analyses, benchmarking, and due diligence activities.
  • Facilitate executive-level discussions and communicate findings, recommendations, and results to client leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables while maintaining the highest standards of client service and work quality.
  • Coach client personnel and help build the capabilities, processes, and management routines necessary to sustain performance improvements.
Qualifications
  • Direct P&L ownership or significant financial performance accountability in an operating business, business unit, division, or comparable leadership role.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in finance, business operations, management consulting, corporate strategy, or operating leadership.
  • MBA or bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline. An MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and operational performance, identify value creation opportunities, and translate findings into executable improvement plans.
  • Experience managing budgets, financial targets, business performance, or profitability improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, cost structures, operating metrics, and the relationship between operational performance and financial results.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in dynamic, high-performance environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 80% of the time to client locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA from a top-tier, accredited business school.
  • Experience in private equity-backed businesses, portfolio company operations, value creation, or performance improvement.
  • Management consulting experience, particularly in operational improvement, performance transformation, restructuring, or turnaround engagements.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial businesses, supply chain, or other asset-intensive operating environments.
  • Experience with financial modeling, operational due diligence, business planning, and value creation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, continuous improvement, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience leading large-scale transformations, organizational restructuring, or business expansions.
  • Demonstrated success improving EBITDA, gross margin, working capital, productivity, or other key financial and operational metrics.
