Job summary

Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) is seeking an Energy Tech 5 to perform construction, maintenance and service tasks under supervision. You’ll build overhead and underground lines, restore service, troubleshoot, set up and maintain lines and equipment, and support on-call duties.

A valid CDL is required, with high school diploma or GED and 4.5–5 years related experience; DOT safety rules apply. Responsibilities include training personnel, planning jobs, maintaining records, and ensuring safe work

  • Must possess a current, legally valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Qualifications
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with four and a half to five years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must possess a current, legally valid Commercial Driver's License and meet the company's driving record requirements.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Analysis And Problem-solving Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform physical activity associated with climbing poles, such as pushing, pulling, lifting and bending.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds and pull up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment
  • Primarily outside construction work.
