Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance continuum modeling, simulation, and optimization of energy and climate systems. The role includes developing physics-based codes and applying commercial and open-source tools within the Computational Engineering Division.

Hybrid work arrangement and potential home days are available. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, publish findings, and contribute to energy generation,

Qualifications

  • PhD in engineering, mathematics, computational science, or related field.
  • Experience developing/modifying continuum models for energy systems (reactive mass transfer, electrochemical phenomena, conjugate heat transfer, etc.).
  • Experience programming in C/C++ and scripting languages (Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience with commercial/open-source modeling, simulation, and optimization codes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct RD in energy materials and devices.
  • Develop continuum models for fluid flow, mass/energy conservation, and reactions.
  • Employ/extend LLNL simulation codes for electrochemical systems.
  • Develop HPC algorithms for design optimization of complex systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to solve multidisciplinary problems.
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
